We LOVE weekends in Texas! This Saturday, we visited Manna Fields Farm for their Sunflower Festival. We got a late start and arrived right around naptime which put a damper on things, but all in all, it was a really fun time.
Angleton is out in the country, and driving around out there renewed our desire to live on acreage someday, and to have our own roadside stand where we'd sell the fruits of the land :) We stopped at one such roadside stand and purchased some sweetcorn and peaches. I made the latter into a cobbler/crisp for dinner. Yum! It was a little labor intensive, but worth it!
Brandon and Shaine are moving back to Texas!!! Brandon came down to search for a place to live this weekend, and we were so excited to have him visit! Abby and Izzy were thrilled to play games with "Mr. Brandon," and are looking forward to Taryn and Devin moving back down so that they can have some more playmates!
We spent this afternoon outside gardening while the girls splashed in the pool. They LOVE summer and the water! We re-introduced them to watermelon which brought out some BIG smiles and happy tummies. The watermelons in our garden should be ready in about 2 months... we can't wait!
One of the girls' favorite books is called Ivan the Terrier and describes the misadventures of a narrator struggling to recount several childhood stories while a little dog named Ivan repeatedly interrupts the tales. Abby sat down with the book and proceeded to "read" the story, remarkably almost word-for-word. Chicki says she'll have the girls really reading by the time she leaves this summer... :)

Ok, Abby's Ohhhh Nooeeewww! while reading is HILARIOUS.
She works very hard on enunciation... we're finding that we have to be very careful HOW we say things, because they'll mimic them almost exactly these days... :)
