Rainforest Pyramid Reopens

Membership at Moody Gardens has many privileges, and we try to take full advantage! The Rainforest Pyramid, which has been going through extensive renovations since being damaged by Hurricane Ike, reopens officially tomorrow, but we got to have a special members-only sneak peek tonight! Pretty exciting!

We met Dan at one of our favorite island eateries, McAlister's Deli for a quick dinner, and then it was off to Moody for an incredible new experience! The pyramid used to house a pretty cool rainforest exhibit, but the new one allows visitors to actually enter in up at the top of the canopy.  It's pretty hot and humid up there, but well worth it! Up in the canopy, there is a little butterfly garden which the girls LOVED.  The docent showed them how to hold their palms flat to let the butterflies climb on and stretch their wings a little.  Izzy wasn't quite too sure about it,

but Abby was totally on board with it, making sure to explain to anyone within earshot that butterflies are nice bugs.

We're entering a stage wherein the girls turn into complete goofballs when we ask them to stand for a picture.  Their smiles are CRAZY, but still very cute in spite of the silliness... here are a few of the gems of the rainforest :)

We took a little walk around the grounds at the Gardens after our tour.. we love this place!
