Still Summer

Even though we've started "school," it is still definitely summer here in Texas and we are still loving it. The girls are getting very brave in the water and it's so exciting to watch them go!

They're showing lots of the "swimming-readiness" signs, and I'm excited to get them into swimming lessons when they turn three!

Abby was getting a big kick out of jumping in the waves today. They splashed her and she giggled and then looked up and me and said, "Mommy, I'm laughing!"

I used the tried-and-true parenting trick of asking the girls to pour water in my feet, which kept them busy running back and forth to the water for a while :)

When they grew weary of that game, Dan dug them a hole in the sand for them to fill...

The pelicans were out in full force today, flying low and dive-bombing for fish just past the waves in the Gulf. Izzy let us know that "a pelican is a kind of bird."

Izzy gets very serious when she's concentrating, so we were teasing her a little, trying to get her to smile. She's pretty strong-willed (imagine that!), but once she cracks a smile, it's all giggles...

Abby is VERY independent, and a thinker. She watches and thinks, and then DOES whatever is on her mind, occasionally letting us in on her plan before she runs off to execute it.
