Galveston County Fair and Rodeo

Aunt Casey came for a visit just in time for the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo. She brought with her a belated but very timely birthday present of cowboy boots. The girls LOVED them, and they fit right in at the rodeo.

The petting zoo is always a big hit with the girls. This one had a (somewhat sedated) pig, a camel, and alpaca, and a calf... pretty fun!

After the petting zoo, the girls got to ride the ponies, which is ALWAYS their favorite activity. Horses make Izzy incredibly giddy... horseback-riding lessons are looming in our future, I think!

No trip to the fair is complete without fair food. We filled our quota with a funnel cake and freshly squeezed lemonade. Mmm.

The rodeo itself was pretty exciting.... it was bull-riding night, which was awesome for most of us, but the rodeo clown (the "silly guy") really freaked Izzy out, so we left a little early. She seems to be a little disconcerted by clowns and mascots; we're working on overcoming her leeriness, although, to be honest, rodeo clowns aren't my favorite either.
