The clip would have been longer, but I had to herd the girls away from the edge of the balcony :) We actually had a very fun day at the Moody Gardens Aquarium on Wednesday with some of the other moms and kids from our Life Group. The girls are a little harder to herd without two dedicated adults, but they had a fun time, and they make fish noises (which sound a lot like air kisses) whenever they approach a tank. We rounded out the day with lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, which was a big hit... the girls are a little startled by the thunder and the elephants trumpeting, but after the initial shock, they giggle and love it. They're also big fans of kids meals.
We've been having some "issues" with the girls climbing and standing on things. We're working hard to remind the girls to sit (On your buns!), but they seem to have short-term memory loss (and/or stubborn streaks) about this topic. It's also hard to not giggle when exercising authority on the issue, because they are so funny with their facial expressions, and with their initial appeasement, followed by immediate replication of the bad behavior. Silly ladies.
The girls climb into the canvas drawers from their bookcase pretty regularly now. They pull out all of the toys, scramble in, and then boss me around with grunts and half-words, letting me know what toy they'd like to play with next. They read in their drawers, and they stand up and dance.... it's very silly.
We had a very fun day yesterday. We got a lot of yard work accomplished in the morning, and then spent the afternoon at Moody Gardens (we're members, ergo our frequent visits). They recently opened up the Rainforest Pyramid, which was closed after Hurricane Ike caused quite a bit of flooding, so we walked through there, delighting the girls with the Macaws and parrots, and then rounded out the day at Palm Beach, which has a series of pools and lots of sand. The girls LOVED swimming in the pool. Neither Dan nor I feel altogether comfortable taking them out very deep in the Gulf, but we were happy to help them float, kick, and splash in the water in the pool and they were happy little fish. We're planning to sign them up for Parent-Child swim lessons at the YMCA, and in the meantime, we'll just keep helping them love the water.
Izzy woke up with a fever today, so we're having a lazy day around the house, hoping that it's just a little bug.
