Just before the switch, the girls started feeding themselves their morning yogurt. It's sometimes successful, sometimes messy, sometimes very, very SLOW, but always fun :)
We had a VERY busy weekend! Chickigram and GPa came for a whirlwind visit, and we made the most of every single minute! Saturday was our first beach day, of course. The girls collected shells for GPa and ran in the sand. We had dinner at Casey's (yum!), and then met Dad at home before we headed back out to... the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo!
It was bullriding night, which was, of course, AWESOME. The girls were a little overtired, but rallied after Chickigram and GPa plied them for good behavior with Bake Sale cookies :) They LOVED the animals and were pretty excited about the Mutton Bustin' and the bulls, but were NOT altogether thrilled during the downtime between rides. SO, we left a little early and took a look at the prize-winning livestock.
The crouch and the head-tilt are Izzy's signature concentration signals. :)
After church on Sunday, we bundled up to brace against our cold front (it was a chilly 67 degrees!!!) which proved to be a harder task than anticipated, as the orange shirts pictured turned out to be the girls only long-sleeved attire! Time to go shopping! We headed out past Katy to Dewberry Farms, about an hour and a half away. It was a little chilly, a little drizzly, but definitely worth the drive!
There was so much to do! The rope swing was a hit, although Izzy's nose and eyes started watering like crazy in the hay.
GPa took Abby down the rolly-slide, much to her delight.
The girls LOVED the pig races. Their pig noises are hilarious grunts and we heard them in abundance.
One of Izzy's all-time favorite activities is washing her hands... and farms and petting zoos always have them. Ahh, entertainment.
The big draw of the farm was the Pumpkin Patch. The girls were a little tired and muddy by the time we made it out there, but we found the perfect pumpkins and had a fun hayride back to the farm.
Before we left, the girls took the John Deere trikes for a test drive. Izzy gave her Dad a free ride, while Abby used GPa as a power horse.
All in all, a really fun day!
Monday, Dad had to head back to work, but the girls and I took Chicki and GPa for a ride on the ferry! It was Chicki's first ever ride, and the dolphins gave her quite a show! A baby jumped and flipped around as if we were at Sea World, and several pods made an appearance between the Island and the Boliver Peninsula. They were so present that the girls were able to spot them, pointing out at the water and saying "Eee Eee!" which is their version of dolphin-speak :)
When they weren't dolphin-spotting, they were hanging on the rails, running on the deck, and generally being silly little girls :)
We rounded out the day with a walk on the beach, chasing seagulls, and getting very wet and sandy. The girls miss their grandparents already! In the mornings, Abby gets up early and starts out the day by yelling a litany of her family members... DADADADA, MAMAMAMA, IIIZZZZYYYY.... and today she added GPa and Chicki. Very sweet.

That is the "holding plate" that I use to cut the lunch items... Lambie and Dog like to sneak a snack from it occasionally.
We had to give Lambie and Dog a special place so that they wouldn't get all full of food at each meal. Now the girls know to put their lovies up before they get into their chairs, and after they put their milk in the fridge, they can go reclaim them before playing with their puzzles. :)

First time visiting - love it! Wanted to share a tip on booster seats: I cover the chair with a grown-up sized robe, then put the booster seat on top of that. It is much easier to put the robe in the laundry than to clean dried food out of furniture! Good luck, and glad to hear y'all are doing well.
