Lemons, Drinking, and Springtime Fun

Dan is studying for another actuarial exam, so he's been spending a lot of his weekend time back at the office. (The girls and I present some interesting study challenges when he tries to get anything done at home...) The girls and I have used the opportunity to make our way down to Galveston to visit Moody Gardens while he's studying, and then meet him for lunch or dinner when he needs a break.

Moody is so much fun for the girls. They are starting to recognize where the different animals are, and what is coming next. Abby enjoys the moray eels in the big tank... both girls still love the octopus, although he's been sleeping through the last couple visits.

We met Dan at a Mexican restaurant on Sunday and the girls were remarkably well-behaved. The highlight of Izzy's meal was the lemon-wedge appetizer... Dan and I were cringing throughout, but she seemed to LOVE the taste... the girl loves citrus!

The girls are climbing EVERYTHING these days... and jumping off! Little Gym has taught them a lot of valuable skills, but lately, they've been putting them into practice at inopportune times. But they're still very cute. They're not QUITE big enough to climb this tree, but they are loving sitting and playing in it... with supervision :)

The girls are learning to drink from a cup without a lid or straw, now that it's warm enough for us to practice outside. Izzy takes the task very seriously, and takes to heart our warnings to drink slowly and carefully. Abby thinks it's all rather hilarious and would rather drink like a cat, by sticking her tongue in and lapping it up.

In the video, we've just reminded Abby not to stick her tongue out, so of course Izzy wants to try it that way. And Abby is asking for a lid.

The weather has been perfect lately, and except for the high pollen count, it's been amazing to be outside in it! We recently acquired a teeter-totter at the BAMOM sale (along with a load of super-cute and matching clothes!), and the girls have been having fun learning about balance, gravity, and cooperation.


The girls play together almost all of the time, but occasionally, they'll do something independently. Their attention spans seem to be getting longer and longer.

Abby seems to be a pretty good shot... Izzy prefers to knock the basketball hoop over...

We created a raised bed garden this year and planted lots of tasty things... it's growing like CRAZY and I'm pretty sure I've overcrowded everything.. but hopefully we'll still get a good crop of peas, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, black-eyed peas, and okra. YUM.

We got a Topsy Turvey for our strawberries and have been enjoying the fruits of our labor. One small fruit at a time, so far...
