Zoo Boo!

The Houston Zoo has an annual event called Zoo Boo! that we checked out this year.  They have trick-or-treat stations set up throughout the zoo, and let the little goblins pick out and decorate their own mini pumpkins.  We haven't been to the zoo in a while, so the girls were THRILLED to get to show their little friend Lily around.

The elephants were in their barn getting a bath, which was pretty mesmerizing for the little butterflies.  And the okapis are always pretty entertaining.  They have stripey back legs and the girls are always quick to remind me that they're NOT zebras because their front parts are brown.

Feeding the giraffes is, by far, the most exciting part of any zoo trip.  The girls are getting much more skilled and much less nervous about the whole process; I think the giraffes are getting a little better at taking their food as well!

Izzy was still a little freaked out about the chimps because of the antics they displayed at our last trip to the African Forest, but Abby was pretty excited to hop right up and watch a chimp play with and eat a pumpkin right on the other side of the glass.  She wanted him to resume playing patty cake with his feet, as if he'd not missed a beat since last April.

The girls had a great time with the goats (who were not catatonic on this visit). Izzy found one little friend that she dubbed her favorite and didn't leave his side for the duration of our visit.
