Fun with Books and a Trip to the Zoo

The girls favorite new game is to take ALL of the board books out of their bookshelf and put them on the floor. Sometimes, they then sit down and read them. Their favorite book is one that they got from the pediatrician, with baby faces.

Izzy may look like she's waiting patiently for a turn with the book...

...but it doesn't take long before she decides to take matters (and the book) into her own hands. Abby is starting to resist things like that, now, which makes Izzy a little bit peeved. :)

We got to take a fun trip to the zoo today with Nathaniel, Sybil and Ted, Sybil's mom, and Cindy! It was a really, really gorgeous day, and parking was MUCH better mid-week than it is on Saturdays!

We checked out the petting zoo. Which had goats and... more goats. I have my suspicious about whether they are drugging these particular goats, because they are VERY VERY docile... to the point of perhaps being catatonic, but it was fun for the kids, nonetheless! The girls weren't quite sure what to make of them... they're used to Rica and Mike moving pretty quickly once they get close enough to "pet" them, but they seemed to have a fun time. I used the opportunity to explain to them how mutton bustin' is going to work, and that the sheep might move a little faster than the stoned goats... it's my goal to always look for teaching moments :)

After the zoo, the Yancy's went on the train ride, and I walked with the girls around the park to lull them into a nap. It worked beautifully!

Unfortunately, the nap didn't get to continue on the ride home because we got a flat tire! Yikes! Thankfully, Ted was able to change it, and we made it on the road before rush hour hit in full force. But THEN, a crazy old lady on her cell phone bumped us... luckily, we were maybe going 2 mph at the time, but STILL. GET OFF OF THE PHONE!!!! She just waved, and kept talking. Dan says I need to let it go.... I'm working on it. :)

In any case, we made it home safely, and had a really great day!
