Can you believe that we're in Week 24 already? The girls are so amazing. They're both rolling over with abandon now, and they are getting less and less cranky about finding themselves on their tummies... they just prop themselves up and enjoy the view!

The girls are pictured here learning about numbers with the counting game from Nana. I've gleaned from my parenting Web sites that around 6 months, babies can start to understand basic arithmetic, so Dan's been teaching them to count to three. They seriously LOVE it, although they seem to love just about anything that Dad does these days! We play with blocks a lot, too, which is supposed to help with math and other skill sets.
We also got some walkers, so the girls have a little tiny bit of mobility... they haven't moved more than about 6 inches so far, but they seem to really like being in them! Yes, we know that the American Academy of Pediatrics and most parenting books warn STRONGLY against walkers b/c of the possibility of injuries, but since we don't have stairs, we're hedging our bets... they'll always be closely monitored, and I'm hopeful that the freedom of mobility will be fun for them. As soon as they master them, we'll post some videos.
Izzy is still our talker, although Abby can hold her own in the conversation department when she has something to say. It is so fun to see them interact with each other now. They really listen to each other when they're talking, and they bat at each other a lot when they're within grabbing distance. This makes naptime a little crazy, since they're still napping in one pack'n'play, but since they don't get upset usually, I'm just letting them play. We pray every night that they'll be best friends, now and forever, so I figure I have to do my part by letting them have the opportunity to bond without me hovering :)
We do, however, occasionally give them time apart. This weekend, Dan took Abby to pick up some sandwiches for dinner (Subway is having their Scrabble promotion, and we are big suckers for that kind of advertising), and Izzy and I stayed home to play. Dan says that he doesn't get nearly as much attention with one baby when he goes out in public as he does with both of the girls :)
