On the Tuesday before Christmas, we visited the Christmas Train, which was a big hit last year. The girls were big enough this year to play in the bounce house. Alas, Abby found that she couldn't quite bounce with the big kids and took a knee to the eye. It's finally healing, and I was able to retouch most of the Christmas pictures, but poor Abby! She was a trooper and stopped crying soon after her Dad kicked off his shoes and jumped into the moonwalk to save her :)
Before the incident...
Waiting on the train...
With Chickigram and GPa...
Wednesday was our big family picture day on the beach. It was VERY windy, but my friend, fellow BAMOM Jaycee Mills, did a great job despite our blowing hair! You can view proofs here.
We took a trip over to Murdoch's, which was fun. The girls love the patio on the pier... and they didn't get in trouble for running and jumping this time :)
We finished out the day at Moody Gardens at the Polar Express 4D film (3D plus some fancy smells, movement, and splashing).
And suddenly, it was Christmas Eve! The girls wore their beautiful Christmas gowns to the Candlelight Service at church, and then came home, got into comfy PJs, and had round 1 of Christmas presents!
This year, the grown ups each brought one recycled gift with universal appeal, and one "gift to Jesus." We played the white elephant game with the tangible gift, and shared cards with our donations. Dan and I are sponsoring a little girl through World Vision. Saeda has the same birthday as Abby and Izzy. She's 7 years old, lives in Ethiopia, and likes math :) Casey donated to medical missions through Samaritan's Purse; Chelle donated a flock of ducks through Heifer, Int'l, and Chickigram donated school supplies and GPa donated a goat, both also through World Vision. It was really a pretty fun way to do things!
And then it was time for the girls to begin opening the bounty of the vast generosity of their family!
