Mom's Birthday Weekend

I was raised to believe that each passing year was to be celebrated with a Birthday Season, rather than just a measly BirthDAY. This year's Season of Mom started out at the Astro's game on Friday night!

We were down on the field level this time, which was fun for about the first inning, but the girls had a very hard time maintaining focus... Izzy kept asking me when the "silly guys" were going to come out... it turns out that minor league games, like the Mustangs game that we saw when we went to Montana this year, have a lot more kid-focused entertainment, which the girls now associate with baseball... so with very little mascot-centered activity, the girls got pretty antsy. They did, however, get pretty excited about riding the escalators! Alas. We'll have better luck next year, I'm sure!

This morning, the girls spent some time with Dad while Mom went to the farmers market. After their nap, we piled into the van for the long haul to Anahuac, the Alligator Capital of Texas for Gatorfest!

It was awesome! We LOVE festivals, and this one came complete with freshly squeezed lemonade and funnel cakes galore. AND gators. AND airboat rides. The girls were pretty excited about their life jackets... Abby gave everyone in line a little giggle when she decided that Izzy needed a hug while they were both bedecked in their orange life-preservers... if only we'd been quicker with the video camera!

Arguably the girls' favorite was the bus ride! The girls LOVE riding the school buses that frequently serve as shuttles to the myriad festival-grounds that we frequent throughout the year. When they started getting a little tired, they perked right up when we reminded them that we got to ride the bus back to our van.

I LOVE Birthday Season :)
