Advent Day 2

Our Advent activity for today was to make a paper chain of blessings.

I had the girls tell me all of the things that make them happy. We've been working on the concept of thankfulness since before Thanksgiving, so they were ready to give me a nice long list. I wrote each of their blessings on red and green strips of paper, which the girls decorated with their markers and their new Christmas-themed stampers, which were their "special treats" today.

We got an interesting stream-of-consciousness list, starting out with things that were in their eyelines (oranges, Mike, Christmas tree, reindeer, Baby Jesus) and moving on to family members, places we like to go (library, aquarium, zoo... even our grocery store, H-E-B made the list), and things that we like to do (like watching football with Daddy).

What the girls lack in fine motor skills, they compensate for with big imaginations. Or illusions of grandeur, perhaps :) Their narrations in the video tell a colorful story of the illustrations that they're making.

Our Bible passage was Genesis 1:24-31... condensed down to the girls' level: God made everything.
