Clapping, Climbing, and a Cage

We got a baby cage today! The girls have been getting faster and more adventurous on a daily basis, and in order to preserve safety and sanity, we got a little playzone, which was delivered this afternoon. It is fantastic! The girls seem to really like the activity panel, and since we have it enclosing what was their playmat before, they don't seem to mind being caged in too much. They're probably going to get frustrated from time to time, but we're hoping for the best!

Safety is becoming more and more of a concern these days, as the girls get more adept at things like climbing :) It's not that we weren't concerned about keeping the girls safe before, but when they were less mobile, things just seemed a lot less scary to us as parents. Our beautiful bookshelves now take on the appearance of a climbing wall, and our Mancala marbles are clear choking hazards. It's so fun to watch the girls tackle each milestone with gusto, but wow! being a parent is pretty frightening!

It is, of course, also incredibly rewarding. The girls are starting to enter into a bit of a clingy stage, and as hard as that is when I need to get things done, it's also awesome to have them always smile and crawling as fast as they can to get into my lap. They are such a delight!

It was up in the 70's on Tuesday, so we set the mats up outside for a little change of scenery. The girls were thrilled, although they weren't too excited about staying on the mats. I am looking forward to a really fun springtime here!

And last, but certainly not least, Abby learned to clap! We took a tip from Brandon and started playing a powerhouse version of Patty-cake, and sure enough, she claps on command. Sometimes :)
