Bonus Day with Chickie and GPa

Hurray! The weather finally improved, prompting Chickie and GPa to extend their stay by a day! We spent our bonus day at, of course, the beach!

Chickie wrote the girls' names in the sand, so Abby borrowed her stick to try out her own sand penmanship.

It wasn't quite warm enough for the adults to dive in, but the girls were thrilled to get their swimsuits wet. They'd sprawl out on their bellies for a millisecond at a time, and then run giggling back to us to tell us that their tummies were wet, and then run back to the water for more.

Izzy got chilled pretty quickly and retired to her warm towel and chair, content to dig in the sand and chat with Chickie.

Abby tried her hand at body surfing. She stayed in water too shallow to allow for much floating at all, but she had a great time. GPa stood out in the surf to keep her company, and to point out the amazingly huge flock of brown pelicans, hunting just a few yards away. They are truly incredible birds!

It was a perfect day at the beach, and the girls were thrilled to get to spend an extra day with their grandparents.
