We opened up beach season on Saturday. The Gulf hasn't warmed up enough yet to warrant a swim quite yet, but the girls were content to play in the sand and enjoy the sea breeze.
Also keeping us out of the water were the six or seven Portuguese Man O' Wars (Men O' War?) that we found washed up on shore. We had a quick little lesson about nematocysts (stinging cells) and staying away from animals that have them. We think that the girls were sufficiently educated and are hoping that the critters drift elsewhere by the time the water warms up enough for swimming.
