Easter Weekend

We had a very fun and productive day on Good Friday this year. Dan gets the day off, so after breakfast, we headed down to the beach. The girls had a blast, of course, and were thrilled to have Dad along, so that we could all be a little braver in the waves. When they come with just Mom, we stay in the shallows, but with a 1:1 ratio of adult to baby, we can actually play in the Gulf. Izzy has become very brave about putting her face in the water and "blowing bubbles," which sometimes means blowing bubbles, and sometimes means breathing water. She was very brave and wanted to do this even in the moving water... we were very supportive, and can't wait to get both girls into swimming lessons :)

We left in the early afternoon so that the girls could have their nap, and used the rest of the afternoon for gardening and yard work. I'm starting a "patio garden" in window boxes... we should have some sugar snap peas, cucumbers, peppers, and grape tomatoes in the mid-summer to early fall! Woo hoo! If this is successful, I might get Dan to make me a full raised garden, but I haven't decided how hard I'm willing to work.... :)

This morning, we woke up and headed out to Pearland for an Egg Drop! The advertisements promised 30,000 eggs dropped from a helicopter onto the high school football field. We got there early, only to discover that the egg drop/hunt wouldn't be happening for two hours! Ugh! SOO, we had some snacks and played around at the festival for a while before lining up at the stadium. The helicopter was pretty exciting,

but there were so many children and it was such a madhouse that the girls didn't get a single egg :( Alas.

We did, however, get to see the Easter Bunny, which was somewhat terrifying for Izzy...

It was a fun day, but we will probably try to stick to smaller Egg Hunt venues in the future. We'll have our own private Obert Family Egg hunt in the morning, and I think the girls will each get a fair portion of eggs then :) We'll be coloring eggs tonight, which should be fun, and we'll have lots of Easter morning pictures tomorrow.
