The Downtown Aquarium hosted a Breakfast with Santa that was just fantastic! Izzy was still too nervous to stand next to him, much less sit on his lap, but did thank him for the stuffed fish that he gave her. Abby kept her distance in solidarity, but also used her manners when receiving her gift. The restaurant itself has an amazing circus... every table has a view of a HUGE aquarium... and halfway through breakfast, Santa hopped in with the fish and swam around in full Santa apparel! Even with the security of the glass aquarium wall, the girls wouldn't get too close, but they talked about Santa and the elf swimming in the tank all afternoon.
After breakfast, we visited the aquarium itslef. Abby climbed into the ray tank bubble and watched the rays swim over her, while Izzy reached in and touched them from above.
Abby and Dad pretended to be old fashioned scuba divers.
What's that? Why yes, there IS a white tiger at the aquarium. We can't really explain it either, but it is a pretty amazing animal and we were excited to get to spend some time with it.
Outside of the aquarium is a little boardwalk of sorts, with rides and snack carts. The girls loved the carousel. Izzy took a look at the ferris wheel and told me that she didn't think she was ready for it, but she relented when she found out that our whole family could ride together in one gondola and was pretty excited to get to see the highway from above.
