Silver Linings

Zonked out babies after an exhausting session with the activity center.

We've had a rough past 24 hours. Yesterday, our electricity went out around 2ish, and it wouldn't come back on when I flipped the main breaker. Dan came home and got it to come on for about 45 minutes, but then it was out for good. The electrician came around 6 to let us know that our main breaker was out and couldn't be replaced because the breaker box itself was obsolete. To make matters worse, it costs about a zillion dollars to replace AND they couldn't get to it until this morning. If this had happened pre-twins, we would have just stuck out the night, but since increased nighttime temps are associated with SIDS, we figured none of us would sleep very well without the AC... so, we headed to the nearby Days Inn for the night. While everything about the situation was pretty rotten, we did find a silver lining in the hotel pool.

The girls seemed to really like it! We didn't get a lot of smiles, but they were totally content the whole time we swam with them, and didn't start to shriek until we got back to the VERY air conditioned hotel room :) A warm shower and a hot meal fixed everything, and the girls actually got a really good night's sleep, even in their pack'n'play.

Hurray! This morning, our routine was a little rough going in the hotel,

but we managed, and we spent the day with Miss Sybil and Nathaniel while the electricity got fixed and the AC kicked back into gear. We're all set now, happily!
