We had a great weekend of fun with our friend Kelly K!! We worked with Kelly in the MCB office at U of I, and she has since moved to Boulder, CO, where she teaches high school biology. Her last day of school was Friday, and she's headed to Virginia next week, where she'll be doing research and developing curriculum to teach saltgrass ecology to teenagers :) In any case, she found time to visit with us and the girls in her few days off, and we had such a fun time!
We visited the beach on Sunday...this weekend was the Sandcastle competition at East Beach, which is always pretty interesting. It was pretty hot for the girls, so we didn't stay long, but it was good to get out and walk for a while! We introduced Kelly to Casey's (seafood cafe) and Chick-fil-a, and had a happy brunch at the Waffle House (not all at once). Kelly and I had a nice little girls' night at the Haak Winery in Santa Fe, which was REALLY great. We enjoyed the outdoor jazz concert, tasty wine, and great conversation :). And of course, we found time for a few hours of world domination (playing Risk).

In honor of Kelly, who is also from Chicago, the girls wore their cross-town rivalry onesies on Sunday. Kelly showed some partiality to Izzy all day for some reason...
Izzy has gotten more excited about the activity gym. She's particularly fascinated by the mirror hanging from above. I'm still not convinced that the flailing about is intentional, but it's getting more frequent, and I think they'll both be grabbing soon.
